Die Absenderin verweist darauf, dass nach dem Tod ihrer Eltern und fast der gesamten Verwandtschaft die Empfängerin die einzige überlebende Verwandte ist. Sie hat keine Antwort auf ihre letzten drei Schreiben erhalten und auch keine Reaktion auf die Geschenke, die sie mitgesandt hatte. Darum ist sie in großer Sorge und fragt sich, ob ihre Sendungen angekommen sind. Sie hat nach einem zuverlässigen Boten Ausschau gehalten und als idealen Kurier die Nonne VG aus Walsrode gewinnen können, die wie ein Engel einige Tage bei ihnen war. Sie könne sie gar nicht genug loben und bittet, dass die Tante dieser Botin alle Freundschaft erweisen und ihr selbst baldmöglichst eine kurze Botschaft zukommen lassen möge, wie es sich mit den Briefen verhalten habe.
The writer notes that, after the death of her parents and almost all her other relatives, the recipient, her maternal aunt (perhaps Elisabeth Viskule, a nun of Ebstorf), is now her sole surviving relative. She complains (in turns of phrase drawn from the Psalms and the Book of Revelation) that, although the recipient’s replies to her letters had once refreshed and sustained her, she has now received no reply at all to the last three letters that she had sent to the recipient or to the presents which she had sent with them (spiced biscuits (see Letter 34) and a tart). She reports that she is therefore very concerned and has been left wondering whether they were ever received. She writes that she has been on the lookout for a reliable messenger and, to her great joy, thanks to God who hears the desires of the poor (an expression of praise drawn from Psalm 9), has been able to call upon VG, a nun of Walsrode, as her ideal courier. The sender informs the recipient that VG has been with the convent for a few days and (in the words of Psalm 18) that she cannot praise her enough. She asks that her aunt would show this messenger her friendship and provide a short reply about whatever may have been the matter with the letters as soon as possible.
