Die Absenderinnen, wahrscheinlich ehemalige Ebstorfer Nonnen, gratulieren Barbara von Hodenberg zur Wahl als Priorin von Ebstorf mit Verweis auf die gemeinsame Erziehung in Ebstorf als Schafstall Christi. Sie drücken ihr Mitgefühl für erlebte Schwierigkeiten und die Schwere des Amtes aus, verweisen auf Christus, der sie zu dem Amt berufen hat und nicht verlassen, sondern sie jederzeit mit offenen Armen empfangen wird: Gott versteht die doppelte Last aus menschlicher Schwäche und Amtsverantwortung und gibt daher auch doppelten Trost, irdisch und zukünftig. Als Morgenstern möge Christus ihr Wissen und Unterscheidungsvermögen erleuchten, damit sie ihre Schafe zu Ehren Gottes erfolgreich weiden kann. Als Zeichen der Zuneigung schicken die Nonnen ein Tuch und Konfekt; sie soll die Dürftigkeit des Geschenks übersehen und die gute Absicht anerkennen. Falls die Senderinnen der neuen Priorin zuliebe etwas tun könnten, sind sie dazu jederzeit bereit.
The nuns of Lüne congratulate Barbara von Hodenberg on her election as prioress of Ebstorf, especially because they come from the same sheep fold and were nourished on similar pasture. They express sympathy for all that she has undergone and for the difficulties of the office. They reassure her though that he who has called her to this office will not desert her. He is ready at any time to welcome her with open arms. God understands the double burden of human weakness and the responsibility of office and therefore gives a double comfort, both on this earth and in the future. As the morning star may Christ enlighten knowledge and discrimination so that her sheep may graze on the higher honour of his name. As a sign of their affection they send a cloth and confectionary. They hope she overlooks the paucity of the gift but recognise the good intention. When there is something which the writers can do for the new prioress then they are ready at any time.

1 Barbara von Hodenberg (Priorin in Ebstorf 1495-1511) war sicher schon Teil des Ebstorfer Konvents, als 1481 von dort die siebenköpfige Delegation aufbrach, die in Lüne bei der Einführung der Bursfelder Reform helfen sollte. Man hatte vielleicht gemeinsam die Ebstorfer Klosterschule besucht. Zum Zeitpunkt des hier vorliegenden Glückwunsches waren fünf der Ebstorferinnen wieder in ihren Heimatkonvent zurückgekehrt. Dauerhaft in Lüne verblieben waren Sophia von Bodenteich (Priorin in Lüne 1481-1504) und Gertrud von Eltzen (Subpriorin in Lüne 1481-1496). Vermutlich handelt es sich bei den Absenderinnen also um diese beiden.
